Anybody tried them? I'm still trying to grasp how they're used in a general, real-life transaction, but they seem to be quite lucrative. It's currently trading at 1BTC for $7.

I guess you can, so long as someone will buy the bitcoins for dollars.
Hardcore bitcoin mining seems to use up a lot of CPU and heat though.

use your gpu, don't even bother if you have a nvidia card after a while, enjoy spending more money on energy buttcoins are slowly going down since the downfall of silkroad anyway, even though it's back up..they were almost 20 dollars a piece

that was basically all the buttcoins were used for lol like I said, the site is back up but you need to somehow aquire a login

Sounds like a good idea.... Until they start creating their own Bitcoins unfairly and get shit loads of money.

You can't create your own coins, all new coins need to be validated by other clients and checked with the system limit.
