The mailing isn't a great idea unless you have a list and keep track every month. I say PayPal is fine, that way they're protected and you're getting money.

I highly reccomend PayPal, it would work the best. That's what companies like GoDaddy use I believe, and the mail had to be trackable so not many people would trust you.

You shouldn't charge membership unless you have lots of people, though, it cannot lead to anything too good if you start out with membership.

*Yes, I know Clubpenguin did, but they had five years of testing and lots of people helped, over 1,000, so they had the upper hand with membership fees (including the one-month deal which encouraged beta testers to sign up for membership).

Membership for any game requires thought. Games like World of warcraft etc are MMORPGS they have Tons of maps items games etc. No One would pay membership for a small game (that goes for any game)

Dont do memberships! That will drive people away and this game isnt an offical game like on a offical website or somethin. Where would they send the money..what would u tell youre guardians?

Many games have memberships, mostly to fund the game itself. By paying your monthly/yearly fee, you help the game and its production.

The money can come through PayPal or via other ways, like credit cards. Have the site safe and give a statement that protects your PayPal information (ie credit card number) and just tell your parents "This is a trusted site, they will not [...]" and you're probably set.

Yeah, games have memberships to fund the game and make it better.

If Clubpenguin didn't have membership, they wouldn't be able to upgrade Flash CS3 to make the game so awesome. So, if SwampFrogurt charges $4.00-$4.50 a month for membership, and we had 1,000 members, we would get a total of (do it with me):

1,000
x
$4.50
_______
$4,500.00 p/month.

With $4,500 p/month, SwampFrogurt could upgrade their game, pay their employees, donate to charities (and gain sponsors hopefully) and do much more.

That's the importance of the membership.

I agree exactly with Payton. That is the exact reason MMORPG games have membership.

The ammount of fan games that are out there, you will need to do a heck of alot to sway people in your way
