Here's a really good trick to improve your breathing:

Breath in normally, but rather than breathing out normally, breath out as much as you can, and then some. It's like exercise for your lungs, and helps you breath more air. :D

I can only hold my breath for like 40-50 seconds, my friend can hold it for like 3 minutes, it's amazing.
