Bad choice

The spam forum is HELPING the forum.

It opened in the END of OCTOBER and we're already at half of the past month!
The forum activity in that forum is up. It's been open 2 weeks or so, and it's already passed the most unpopular forum.

End of October- 4%
We're halfway through the month and we're halfway to that. If we keep a steady pace, the spam forum will keep snowballing.
We'll actually have an ACTIVE forum, as opposed to "Club Penguin Planet Chat and Arcade"
I COULD support this if the spam is spreading to other forums and is getting out of hand, but it's NOT.

This won't change anyone's mind. It'll just rally the troops.

It is active, but not the type of activity that we wanted. The threads in there seem to be posted when people are bored or hyper. Something like that. None of the threads really have any point to them and are just... there. They may be posting more, but I don't know of many that would read them all.

Activity is marked in posting and repling.

I've seen possibly a small increase in spam over time. As activity increases, spam increases?

Yes, I guess you could say that.
Any forum has it's good ammount of spam... But why just cut it off at the bud? It'll just let it grow another. Why not let it blossom in an enclosed environment where it can't spread it's seeds?

Again, we're talking about the Random Forum in the Staff Forum. =D I don't even know myself if it should stay or go.

I think it should just go. I read some of the posts in there and they are just pointless and mildly irritating. I know its the random forum and all but, if you do keep the random forum it'll be kind of sad how if half of the posts on your forum is all spam.

In my point of view, all the older users started making spam threads that encouraged everyone else to do the same..

My suggestion is making a usergroup for who wants to be in it and whoever is extremely stupid in that forum, will get kicked out.

Exactly, I just got a PM saying, "Why did my spam thread get locked, in the spam forum?" Its not a spam forum its a random forum.

Please give me your definition of the random forum then without crossing into what the chit-chat forums is. Also why does it matter if we're known for that half of our activity is because of spam. I'd rather keep thhe forum alive then preserve a reputation that we don't have already seeing as we are a club penguin related forum.

I beleive its because of the common misconception between random and spam. CPP defines spam as "random typing", yet users seem to see it as random words, phrases, or any content stringed together with no absolute point to it.

No, once again with the group plan it would elminate flaming. So your definition is left with nothing other than trying to distinguish the differences between the the 2 forums which I don't want. I want a simple definition for the random forum, ok?

I wasnt here when the forum was created (its happened when I was without a computer, but I was told some of the other staff members that it was made for appropriate topics that didnt have any other forums. Were your guys's original intentions really to make a forum or other users to spam in? Also, I said to try out the group thing, set it up.

Couldn't you just make a rule that posts mustn't be stupid, annoying (like some flash sigs *COUGH*), or pointless? Then you have the right to lock threads here because you just have to say that it is against the rules :)

Yeah that will work.
Set a rule that we (the staff) have the right to delete any thread we find inappropriate or not right for the forum. Also with the "no more then 3 threads" rule also applies. Because some threads shouldnt be posted in there...

No Dan. We're not going to wing it. You and your staff buddies will make a set of rules, not just when something "inappropraite" occurs that you use your tempr pantrum to unlease chaos.. That's not going to work sorry.

First of all I didnt say wing it. We are talking about it in the staff forum. Second of all, who are you to tell me what to do buddy? We the staff will decide, your inputs nice but demands dont work out to well around here.

Another solution is that the random forum should stay for a month and then be locked and every two months it returns. It would anger and annoy a lot people but, that's the way I 'd handle it.
