| This is basically a thread to discuss the (superb) game by Notch. I made myself a house, and i wanted to post a picture of it here. Yes, that is alpha. (i use the steampunk textures btw) UPDATE: Blame my idiocidy for burning my house down with lava trying to make a fireplace. Never make a fireplace again. I made a new save, and i am REALLY proud of it. This is the outcome of half my inventory being 64 Wood. I think the fog adds a cool touch to it, do you?

| My brother got an account for his birthday and also got me one. I think it is a pretty interesting project and it has great potential. It is also multi-platform because it was made with Java. | |

| Everyone tries to shove "Alpha" down your throats... but really? The game is in alpha and so you believe that it could become something amazing by beta, if the game ever makes it to it. Everyone talks about Beta being amazing, so what would the actual game be like then? 5 years in the future?
It's fun at times, but... alpha is just a place taker. Let's just say it's the real game, but getting constant updates. Isn't that what it is after all? You are able to play it without any huge glitches or bugs, so that seems good enough. Once the basic system is laid down, which it is/has been, then it is good to go for beta and beyond.
Club Penguin gets constant updates, but it isn't considered alpha or beta.

Club Penguin gets constant updates, but it isn't considered alpha or beta. It started development in 2009, genius. A game finished in 1 year is something like a glitchy Super Mario Kart hack that freezes every 2 minutes, has horrible quality, lags like h3ll, and all while it's made in GAME MAKER. Minecraft is not that.

Minecraft is not that. The game is not finished and it is not planned on being finished, as they have ideas that haven't even came into their heads yet. The game has been out for a year and it is in playable condition, genius. Sellable condition as well, genius. If they (he) currently have (has) no planned ending to the game, then when will it be "beta" or "finished"? Like I said, it's a growing game. If it's playable in a year, which it definitely is, then it should not still be in "Alpha". I hear so much about this game being amazing just because it's in "alpha"... yeah. Let's say Notch quit updating it today but it was still sold. Would people buy it? Yes, of course. It's playable at this point, just isn't "finished" because he has more ideas for it. I'd love to see those ideas in the game, but it seems a little late for this "alpha" crap to be thrown around.

| Eheheh, bump. Game is actually in Beta now. And it's doing pretty good.
I even remember seeing on E3 that it will be coming out for Xbox also sometime later this year or next year.

| The adventure update is taking them a while, but they realized that other features included in the update were ready to be released so they are making adventure part of 1.8 so 1.7 can be released earlier. I read that on Techno Buffalo. | |

| For sure.
I kind of hate the really geeky people that play. But, eh, this is PC after all. And that's only if you play on a server anyway.
It's pretty cool. Like you just have this whole world around you to destroy, build, explore, etc. And the things that you tear down become recourses which you can use to build AKA craft other objects. There's a lot to do in it. It is just a game, but oh well, it's fun.
My little sister, who has no clue what to do in it, still loves just to run around in the world.

Exact same reaction I got when i went to sign up a while ago. Pay twenty bucks for something that I will no doubt be bored of in 3 months tops? No thanks

| I bought this back in Beta for about $13 (US). I think it was like 10 Euros.
Worth it? Definitely. I get all of the future updates for free as well by buying it early.
It's not something you can bore of over months. You might play it today and get bored of it, but then tomorrow or next week you come back to it. And heck, every time you start a new world it is Always different. And even if you don't want to start a new one, you can just explore the one you have which grows up to like so and so many times the size of the actual Earth. It is huge and basically infinite. You never run out of new possibilities, and they are always updating it with new things. Like just yesterday they added Pistons.
And being Java based, there are mods out their to basically make whatever you want in the game.
And themes to make it look however you want.
Plus it's coming to Xbox later this year or next year sometime.
