1. Camera:

Camera is one of the most important things, you can use camstudios, hypercam 2, camstasia, or anything else that records the screen. You can register hypercam here:

The Thing about the Camera is that you have to be on timing, sometimes they will lag, you can change this in a video editor if you have a good one.

2. Video Editor
The Video editor is extremely important, you want your videos to look good and a more advanced editor can help, the thing is with advanced editors is that you might have to do some research on them.

Some editors you can use are, Windows Movie Maker, Power Director 6, Sony Vegas, Ulead, etc. <hr id=false>3.Editing
Editing is important, you need to make sure the words are on the exact timing of the song (Music Video) or script (Normal Video)
Some Keys to editing are lighting effects, color effects, and bump mapping
Lighthing: Lighting can be used to shine a light from a corner or a spotlight glow, these are attractive and very helpful
Color Effects: Changing colors simutaneously can also be very attractive on youtube, if saved properly it will be good.

Bump mapping: Changing the way things look basically, you can jagged edge lines, jagged edge your penguin, etc. <hr id=false>4. Song In Background
You can get a song in the background by downloading limewire, downloading your song, then going to your library hit explore, and drag the music file into your editing trimmer.
Song choice:

Very important in a music video, the song you chose is one you have to like, or it wont be fun, and a popular song, so people view it. In a normal video, you want a suspenseful song on something that is a cliff hanger, or when your on the edge of your seat, and you want a rockin song when the hero or main character is about to go rescue everyone, etc. ;) <hr id=false>5.Uploading
Uploading on the right thing is important, i reccomend youtube, very easy
The thing about youtube, is that it will probably take around 20-25 minutes to upload so you have to be patient.
Saving it as right file,
If you can transfer you .avi file to windows movie maker, even if you used a different editor, you can save it as .avi, anways, transfer it to windows movie maker, and save the file as a .wmv, its a faster download on youtube.
