A'ight, for a while now, I've been trying to force convince the staff to add a rep system, but most of them are against it.

SO

I ask you: would you like this system?

'Kai, here's how it works:

Each users starts off at a midway point (0). When you do something really good, or are constantly doing good things, you get boosted up a point. Things like:

-Helping out in FH/S.
-Donating to the forum.
-Being frequently supportive.

THOSE ARE JUST EXAMPLES.

But if you do something really bad (frequent flaming, cursing, etc), you get taken down a point. And rep is easier lost than gained.

-1|-2|-3|-4|-5|0|1|2|3|4|5

You must go up five points from the zero mark (fill your bar) to get your full status. When you reach this point, you get rewarded:

-Elite Penguin Group
-Custom Rank
-Elite Penguin Smiley
-Exclusive Elite Penguin Wallpaper
-Congratulations Signature

Etc. If you can think of anything else, tell meh, plesh.

Well? Poll ends in 2 days. If majority votes yes, I'll try to convince the staff again. If majority votes no, I'll stop. Period.

EDIT: I forgot! Losing all your rep doesn't do anything--you won't get banned for it.

STAFF, PLEASE DON'T VOTE. I want this to be purely users' opinions.

No, it would just be a way of showing if you are a good user or a bad user which in turn, isn't fair at all.

I voted no. It is an OK idea but the actual system of it isn't.

...and that is probably the worst detail.

If a user's rep would go down for flaming or what not (things that deserve infractions) then why wouldn't they get banned?

In a way, this is the same as infractions but you lose infractions for breaking a rule and you gain one for doing good. Those who do good enough get rewarded with alot that they really do not deserve.

Why should you get into a special group and rank just for having good rep?

What if a person with a rep of 5 (or whatever the max is) got all of the awards and then started breaking rules left and right?

Tons of questions that really don't need to be answered. :face:

I numbered them to make it easier to answer.

1) They would probably get infracted along with their deduction. So if they broke enough rules, they would probably still get banned. Make sense?

2) Yeah? So do Atomic Penguins.

3) The whole point of this in my mind is to stop the pointless obsession with post count. If people had something to strive for, then maybe it would provoke better behavior and overall goodness on the forum, rather than rapid posting in Posting Games and things like that.

4) They'd lose their rewards, then their rep. But hopefully, they would have been being a good role model long enough for that to come to them naturally. Another one of the goals of this is character building. I've seen this system take a completely immature forum to completely mature.

And yeah, they do need to be answered--or no one will really understand the point.

KD: Let's say someone was getting frequently infracted for similar things. We take away rep, right? Because it means they aren't really learning anything from their infractions. The taking away of rep will be based on what rules you break and just how frequently you break them.

And gaining rep is based on how much you try to help the forum--genuinely. Helping new users, being patient, things like that, that prove that you really care for CPP's well-being.

Argie: I'll probably start up a topic in the staff forum on rep. This way, the whole/majority of the staff gets a say and it's more fair and less favoring.

Lol. xP I hate integers.

1.) No not really, you just said that they couldn't get banned now you are going against that.

2.) ...and I believe that group shouldn't be here either.

3.) Then why is the Atomic Penguins group still around? If you wanted to get away from the obsession of posting, take away the rewards not give them more!

4.) How do you take a signature away from somebody if they have it saved in their files? Also, I am guessing, the signatures would be numbered like the old legendary penguins thing. So you give it to them but then you can't take it back.

5.) Ha, I got tired of typing and so I only typed those few questions. I could keep going. ^_^

6.) I wonder why. You give them an infraction and then it is removed a few weeks later. Or has that been changed with the "new" infraction system?

7.) Who says the user is doing good though? I see alot of flaming against the person who does decide. "I did good here and here but you never raised my rep!!!"

8.) ...but you already said the all of the staff was against it and by the way they are voting it doesn't sound like they want it either.
