| Most of my computer's larger programs have lost the ability to function, which is not currently a problem desperately, but will be when Parent Teacher Conferences end and I get homework. Simple Version:My computer doesn't have enough RAM, so I need to buy more, and the cheapest I can find it is too expensive for me, any suggestions? Detailed Version:- Spoiler:
Over the past month or so I've noticed that my computer has been slowing down, which is pretty good considering that it was built by my dad almost five years ago, I thought it was because he used parts from microsoft but apparently it's because my computer no longer has enough RAM (or something like that) to let some of it's larger programs function properly.
When I tried to find a way to fix this, I found a website that scanned my computer and told me that I had 1GB of RAM left, two empty slots for ram, and that for my particular computer 1GB was too little, and the only way to fix this problem was to buy more ram. I tried several more sites, and several more scans, and they all said the same thing. From what I can tell, the average price of 512MB of RAM is about 25 US Dollars, which is too far out of my price range considering how little money I get to actually spend for myself
Any suggestions?

| Simple: XP: 1GB is fine. I like to keep my programs list only one column, thats a good way to keep it fast. Vista: 1-2GB best for Home basic. 2-4GB for Home Premium. Dual core is best. It'll work without it, but Vista is a modern dual core OS. | |

| Buy a new computer. DON'T buy new ram - firstly it's too expensive, secondly it is useless after a while.
New computer. Vista. | |

| Yeah, I have 2GB of RAM and that's all my small Mac Mini can hold. I wish I had a different CPU. | |
