Hiya, guys! I've been thinking about it, and one of our forums here has a lot of potential, but is extremely underused. Needless to say, that forum is the Debates forum.

What is a debate?

A debate is a tame argument, I guess you could say. You choose your side on a certain issue, and then you must defend it, along with your team. The two positions available are pro - for - or con - against.

What is the difference between an Official CPP Debate (OCD) and an Unofficial Debate (UD)?

Unofficial debates hosted in the Debates forum allow anyone to come in and supply input into a subject. For example, if you\\\'re arguing about, say, hunting whales, completely random users could come in and supply facts that backed up the necessity of hunting whales.

However, OCDs are more organized. Instead of random people, two teams are formed - Pro and Con - with ten members each (not counting the head of each debate team, which actually makes for a total of 11).

How do OCDs work?

First you must apply for a pro/con team position in this thread. The first ten applicants for each side will be allowed on the team. If you do a particularly outstanding job in a debate, you will be invited back for the next debate.

Debates are held monthly. Unlike unofficial debates, OCDs actually influence happenings on Club Penguin Planet! They work as a chance for you to voice your opinion on a certain subject. The public's opinion of features and the like are accounted for using these debates, and the future of these parts of the forum are determined by how you vote.

Some time will be spent debating in a topic in an OCD sub-forum (soon to be set up). In order to post here, you must be added to the Pro or Con group (which will also soon be set up). Members will be allowed to read through these debates. Midway through the month (anywhere from the fourteenth to the sixteenth) a poll will be set up. Each team will have to have, in their own special sub-forum, prepared an argument of at least five sentences. This argument is what is given to voters when the time comes. Then the members get to vote for the argument they believe is best and most fitting for them, and this determines the fate of the feature in question!

In debates, "con" is far from conning. Conning is an entirely different process. Con in this sense means against. ;)

I'd prefer you choose one over the other if you wish to join, by the way.

You need to specify who is pro for what.

You can't just say pro or con. You have to say either:

"Topic: Wanting PCs to Stay"
"Topic: Not Wanting PCs"

or pro and con could be either way.

let me just quickly make a pont clear.
if you dont have pearl coins how will you get a name change,
rank,
image and other stuff?

Also I have the feeling that people wont do sig or avvy shops now because they wont get anything out of it. Also even if they did do it I think they might ask you something in return like put thier name in bold letter in the sig.
