 Camera advice?

Ahhh, recently, I dropped my camera in a creek during a nature shoot with my photography class. I need to purchase a new camera, and I want to here from you guys what I should buy.

Heres what Im looking for:

-Good quality[clear pictures]
-Small and lightwieght
-Digital[duh]
-And It should at least cost $150-$250[Im not rich =]]

I just need advice, I really like Canon and Polaroid, but maybe Im wrong, Im open to suggestions.
