I'm definitely gonna get it on my computer, but I'm not sure if I should get Archlinux or Ubuntu. Anybody want to tell me the differences?

Why do you want that distro if you don't even know what it does?

Jesus Christ, can't you even Google?

Get Ubuntu and stop whining. It's the easiest to use if you have no clue what you're doing.

There's a program called Wine.

How the heck am I whining? The reason why I asked whether I should use Ubuntu or Arch is because I used Ubuntu, and I kinda hated it. I used Archlinux but I didn't have any problems, but I just wanted to know what you guys would say about it.

Well, there are programs, but they are pretty sweet programs. Best of all, open source. :D

I've seen several open source fps games, if that's what you want. Linux really isn't the operating system for gaming, it's more of website developing and maybe graphic design.

You're right, but WINE doesn't work well with some programs. Besides, who needs WINE if you have a separate partition containing Windows? The operating system Windows programs work best on.

If you had problems with Ubuntu, and no problems with Archlinux, then why are you hesitating?

Tiny bump... Archlinux acts stupid on my computer, the installation doesn't work. I tried i686 and x86. So, I got Ubuntu with Wubi.

If you want to use Linux, I would suggest dual-booting first if you only have one computer. I find that I still need Windows to do somethings.
The reasons I use Linux are that it is much faster in start up and shut down, and you get much more control over the appearance of your desktop.

Since you are starting out with Linux, I would recommend Ubuntu. Open Suse is also great but I feel that it is much less simple than Ubuntu which can get very annoying.
Arch on the other hand is very advanced. I find it to be the most difficult to install. You need to know your way around a terminal.

One good thing about most distros is that you can try them without installing. It is called a live CD. Ubuntu, fedora, Open Suse, and many others have this. From a live cd, you can either boot up into the system from your cd (this will not hurt your computer) or you can install the system. A live cd can be slow though unless you burn the iso to a usb.
