Most definitely so.

One thing you're still not doing is adding borders, though; work on that. :)

I say you have improved but you are still using the easy effects and concepts. You need to understand and work on your flow,depth,and blending.

I use Gimp now although I need to stop smudging so much

You have most defiantly improved by an average amount. You still need some work, though. Keep on not adding borders, they might ruin your whole sig sometimes. Try new techniques, read tutorials. Work on your basic sig concept, depth, flow, effects (Use effect C4Ds for good looking effects) and most important of all, choose suitable--High quality renders that has rich colors and a good position to work with.
