As you know, I have iPod Touch, *look through my posts, you'll see it ATLEAST 40 times...:face:

Anyways,

, there's a hack, (well, actually a unlock) that allows full customization, and two bonus apps,

Cydia and Installer, allow 3rd party apps that Apple's official third party "App Store" doesn't allow.

'Cept, this can be better, and ish all free..:D. Also, it allows you to do basically everything Apple didn't want you to do. :P

For Mac users, get PWNAGE to jailbreak your iPod. And then for more help search YouTube on how to jailbreak an iPod touch or iPhone 2G using 1.1.x or 2.0.x firmware on a MAC.

For Windows users, you're going to need WinPwn. You can get that right here. Then, you too can search YouTube for how to jailbreak an iPod touch or iPhone 2G using 1.1.x or 2.0.x firmware on a WINDOWS PC. There's a tutorial over at SimpleHelp that also works great. You can give that a try too. Note that they use QuickPwn, I believe using WinPwn is MUCH easier.

Common questions with jailbreaking:
Q: Can I still use the apps I've downloaded from the AppStore?
A: Yes, they will re-sync after jailbreaking.

Q: Can I still use the app store to purchase and download apps?
A: Yes.

Q: If I jailbreak, will I lose all of my files?
A: Yes, but you can re-sync your music, videos, and photos after jailbreaking.

Q: Is it worth it?
A: Right now, it can and can't be. Aside from new skins for your device, some nifty Cydia apps, and a few other tweaks. If you like having full control over your device, then you should indeed jailbreak. There are some apps (jailbroken, that is) that can only work with a jailbroken device. (i.e., theme manager)

Q: Can I un-jailbreak?
A: Un-jailbreaking your iPhone or iPod touch is just as simple as jailbreaking it, so yes, you can. You can either update to the newest version of iPod touch firmware, or you can choose to hit the home and power button for ten seconds, then continue holding the home button. Then connect it to iTunes and click "check for new firmware." It will then install the unjailbroken version of the newest firmware.

I as well didn't say it needed a restore. I said you can restore it back so it's unjailbroken.
