All About Fallout Empty
PostSubject: All About Fallout   All About Fallout EmptyJuly 11th 2011, 3:25 am

OK, well if you knew me or if you had me as a friend on Xbox, you would know that I am the biggest Fallout fanatic you'll come across. Although I don't know EVERYTHING about both Fallout 3 and New Vegas, I know a considerable amount about them. I don't know why, but Fallout just has that charm that makes it the longest lasting game on the Xbox to me. I've logged over 100 hours on both games, and still continue to play them just to blast enemies, breaking off limbs or turning them into piles of goo, or just to go exploring. The DLCs that came out for both games add fresh new areas to explore and enemies to fry with a laser pistol (or any other weapon, of course).

Let's make this a nice, general Fallout discussion: Have any questions about the game? Any comments? Any funny glitches happen to you while playing? What was your favorite/least favorite part of the game? Least favorite enemy? Favorite follower? Anything! Put it all here.

I'll start: Since I haven't played Fallout 3 in a few months, but will shortly be getting back to, I'll just talk about New Vegas.

My favorite follower is Arcade Gannon because he is an overall chill follower with a very cool questline. Least favorite enemy is the stupid Cazador. My favorite part of the game was definitely the Hoover Dam fight (nothing but the best action there). My least favorite part has got to be collecting 50 sunset sarsasparilla bottle caps for "The Legend of the Star" quest.

The funniest glitch I've seen so far in the game is when you leave through the back of Helios One, and a lady named Lady Gibson and her dogs randomly spawn in the air, fall down, and start attacking you. It always happens, and I'm sure you've seen the glitch too if you've played the game.

Now it's your turn.

Heck, I can't even remember it's been so long.
I've never played Fallout 3, it's somewhere on my list of possible games to buy though.

Fallout New Vegas though, have it for PS3, beat it, no DLC, all that good stuff. When I first got it, I played it 33 (at least!) hours in a row, maybe a couple breaks to eat but that's it. I have no clue how it happened, I just wanted to do a lot and it was a fun game.

The Helios glitch was probably something I considered really awesome. I deleted the update just to be able to max out and play the game without hassle (2nd time through). But, eh, that's just me.

Not really sure... oh I remember! I don't remember dogs, but I do remember her dead body on the ground for no reason. Isn't she also the NPC that owns the Junkyard (isn't that it?) up the road?

I've been wanting to play through it again recently, but I just haven't had the time I guess.
Loved the intro.

Hmm, just trying to think of things to mention,

What class type do you normally play as, or what would you say is the best?

This was soon after Christmas and I'd just gotten a new TV, so that day I also bought myself an HDMI cable. And it just made the game that much better since it was the first I got to play with Improved Viewing Pleasure. :P

Haha yeah, she owns Gibson's Scrapyard.

I usually play as a plasma guns guy; although energy weapons are the most expensive in the game, they do the most damage and ammo is plentiful. I also have a melee guy. Melee is the best if you want to play on hardcore since ammo is weighted on that mode.

You should go pick up New Vegas again! Sounds like you also loved it.

That's one of fallouts best qualities, making new characters if actually fun like playing as a different class, like for example a fists only guy, that always sounded interesting.

Agreed. Especially with New Vegas. There are so many different ways to beat the game that it's insane!

Yeah, they out did themselves with the RPG aspect of this game, could be one of the best all time.

Yeah, it's a great game, although I do think Fallout 3 is much, much better. It even has the best DLC to date- Point Lookout.

Fallout 3's DLC out did New Vegas ten fold for sure. No competition.

Hahaha, good one. I will have to agree with you that Zelda is the best series on any system, but Fallout is the best series on the Xbox.

I never really got into Fallout. It's open world and many choices.. kind of scared me. There was something about it, and I just couldn't put my finger on it.

It's a big open world, but you are basically following a straight path if you keep with the main quests.

I played mainly as a Sniper both times. I need to try something new.

That takes some mad skill...kudos to you!

Basically, I can't live without VATS haha. But I've found myself actually not using VATS recently. Maybe because on Hardcore everything is so much harder...

Haven't played Hardcore. I might give that a go around my next time through as well.

What do you think is the best class possible and beginning points for it (forgot the name, Luck, Strength, those)?
Like, I think you mentioned Lasers, how would you set that up to start?

Well if you're planning on doing hardcore, you want your Luck very high so you could win in the casinos easily. I don't know if you know but the higher your Luck, the better chance you will have winning in the casinos (just like in real life). Winning more will get you caps quickly so you could go buy better guns and stock up on food and meds.

Next you want to have a decent charisma and endurance. Charisma will help you pass speech checks and endurance will help with your overall health. Keep Intelligence and Perception low as they are not that necessary.

When it comes to tag skills and putting skill points, go for speech until you get it to 100. That's the most important skill in the game if you don't want to fight alot, and I'll tell you what, it's hard on hardcore. Next, go for energy weapons or guns, whichever you prefer (although plasma weapons are the best in the game), and medicine. After that, you are pretty free to mold your character into whatever you want.

Good luck!

I've just finished Old World Blues. It's a bit out-there, but a nice change from the existing story. I haven't played Honest Hearts, but it seems interesting.
