| PS is better, but it's expensive. If you have $500 bucks or so lying around go buy it... | |

| For a beginner PS for sure.
BUT!! GIMP actually can make better GFX than Photoshop but it is VERY VERY Hard to learn to be a Pro at, and is unprofessinal.
Sounds like you don't have 500 bucks lying around though. Unless you wanna become a pirate (argghhhh.. matey!) you'll have to go for GIMP. If you can, PS for sure.

| KD it's the other way around :P.
I remember my switch from GIMP to PS.
I was so used to have to work hard to get these effects and stuff.
But on PS they are just handed to you, it's like you don't have to lift a finger. It was hard for me, I kept going I gotta do this, oh wait no it does it for me.

Well then go to the help button... but you dont achive anything from switching from ps to gimp.... It becomes much harder because gimp can achive great hights that YOU HAVE TO WORK FOR! Instead of pressing a button to get good GFX you work for them... Gives a little self fufilment... Once you get to PS everything is the otherway around and you long for gimp...

| I just said that Photoshop has an easier interface for begineers.
And even though GIMP can actually make Graphics that may be better than PS you should you PS unless you HAVE to use GIMP.

| Photoshop and Gimp are equal for making graphics. It depends what you're going after. In my opinion Photoshop is the best. The whole point is to make good graphics faster. I mean having like 6 layers for a nice drop shadow is pointless... | |

6 layers to make a drop shadow actually proves Gimp can do more. Think of it this way: Photoshop gives you the options. Gimp gives you the ability to make the options. It's like telling one person to make a game with flash and the other to make a game with drag-and-drop GM. Which one's harder? Flash Which one will come out better? Flash ;) That's my opinion.
