Tomorrow, September 11th, is a memorial to the thousands of lives lost--not just physically, but mentally, too.
Seven years ago, terrorists drove a plane into the Twin Towers, the largest towers in NYC. All the passengers and the terrorists on that flight were killed, as were many in the two towers. Their goal was "humble", in a sense, the US--if anything, it brought us all together. A bombing on the Pentagon was attempted, but the brave passengers of the flight crashed the plane--killing themselves in the process. We honor their bravery.
Tomorrow was one of the US's most tragic sudden events, tomorrow was the beginning of a war fought for years, tomorrow was a day that should never be forgotten.
CPP celebrates its diversity and the many people from so many different cultures, but I honestly believe that just because you are not from the United States doesn't mean you should not feel sympathy for this tragedy.
In honor of all who were lost, innocent lives, we ask you to sport this avatar tomorrow:
And before you say anything about the forum celebrating US holidays, I ask you this: what if you had been on that flight? What if one of your relatives--an older sibling, your mother or father--was in the Twin Towers? ~Egaro

Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming? Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight, O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming? And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there. Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep, Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes, What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep, As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses? Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam, In full glory reflected now shines in the stream: 'Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion, A home and a country should leave us no more! Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution. No refuge could save the hireling and slave From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave: And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand Between their loved home and the war's desolation! Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation. Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, And this be our motto: "In God is our trust." And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Man, how could I ever forget this Day of Nightmares. :S
I never have, and I never will!I'll definetly put that symbol in my signature.I had to confess because I was really mad about what happened.
People had to jump out of the building to abort their crashing death!Awhile after this day, we went to war and I never even knew about it until afew years later since I was about 5 on this day. :downcast:

Its a sad story, I remember the day clearly. My mom was taking me to school and we heard it on the radio.
My friends grandmother was going to have coffee in the Twin towers with her friend from work on 9-11, she turned out to be late though, her friend sadly died on the bottom floor coffee shop. While my friends grandmother had thanked God for keeping her safe, and not getting there on time.
I pray for the victims of 9/11 and wish all their families luck.

It's a nightmarish day. Lots of innocent workers died, firefighters and people who helped to try and save those innocent workers either died or received asthma or health problems (from the dust, you know)
I HATE TERRORISTS!!

When is Al Gore going to track down Osama Bi Laden and kill him w/ his bare hands?
Nuff of the jokes, but sorry for all those who loves relatives/friends.

Not to start yet another one of CPP's classic religious-themed arguements, but I think no one should try to be killing terrorists, let alone anyone. If you're christian, you know where people that aren't christian go. But when christians get killed, will they ever suffer any more?

My cousin's husband was in one of the towers. He got out alright, though.
Condolences to anyone who lost a friend or loved one in 9/11

When the terrorist hit the twin towers my parents took me from school to bring me home. At first I didn't know what was happening, but when they turned on the tv I knew. I had nightmares for about a month about 9/11.

People were wondering how a framed tower like that would collapse. After it went down, the smoke from the tower was just insane! :S
