I use Windows Security Essentials and it works extremely well. I recommend it.

Avir and Malwarebits

Most of it is a common sense though. Don't download stuff you from untrusted sources, etc, etc.

(I was going to put a sexually related analogy here but can't think of it now)
Java drive bys should be the only thing affecting you, but still..

I used to use Avira. I found it to detect too many false positives :(
