What do you mean? Do you want to know how to make a background transparent? Or do you want to add a background?

You can't, it'd be too difficult and loose most of it's quality

I actually use the Freestyle Cut tool; it's hard to do, but if your hand's not too wobbly, you can cut an image out. It's hard, but you can probably do it with some practice!

I think that's what you're talking about, at least...

Or you can make a new layer, trace around the outside of the image you want to cut, select outside that, and go to the originsl layer & delete the selection
